Insect House

Insect House

A visit to the insect house is an opportunity to observe a wide variety of living specimens. It's also an opportunity to learn more about these little-known animals.

This area is dedicated to insects, enabling visitors to learn how to recognize them, their usefulness and their life cycle. It hosts fun and educational activities (indoor and outdoor workshops, conferences, etc.) for families and school groups alike. Most of the insects that can be observed are bred on site, and are available for sale or hire for special events (over 50 species).
The site is run by OPIE, the French association for insects and the environment, which also travels around the Ile-de-France region to run its events (setting up a breeding facility, building an insect hotel, etc.).
One of the main aims of this association is to familiarize different publics with the themes of biodiversity and sustainable development. OPIE and the RTR EntomoCentre "diffusion" working group are planning to work together on the development of a new educational kit on insects, aimed in particular at teachers.
